Hello, I was hoping to see if anyone had any historical information on these type of handcuffs. From my grandfather's estate came this set of cuffs marked as follows, on the end opposite the key is stamped 1780, RCS,1941,3. Also on the side there is an arrow with what looks like the number 13.The same 1780 number is marked on both keys as well. Along with them was a brass millitary whistle and military police (MP) armband. Would anyone know if these are a type or brand of handcuff that the military police would really use during the early 40's. My grandfather served in the Euroupean theater during the war in England. RCS = Reuben Craddock Sons (Don't quote me on the spelling) They supplied a lot of cuffs to the British military. The arrow mark you describe sounds like the Broad Arrow, which marked items of equipment as military property.

Thanks for responding, I did try to upload a pic here when I posted that, but could not figure it out. I do have them for auction on Ebay # 150208233062. I have 2 pictures of them there. I asumed the cuffs to be much older than they are, and did'nt associate them with the MP arm band and military whistle that I found in the attic with them. I had already listed them before I found some information here on this site. Any information would be great as I learn more about my Granddad's war time history. Like I said before, I have his entire military records and these handcuffs and military police paraphernalia don't fit. Thanks for your time Glenncito

the 1941 denotes the year,if he was in the U.S. MILITARY he prob. traded with some british mil. dude!
