I have an identical cuff. There have been several identical pieces on ebay over the last few years. I don't know how old they are, but they are extremely well made. My personal opinion is that they are museum quality reproductions.

Someone correct me if I'm mistaken. Didn't the ring go to the top for hanging prisoner's from the ceiling? At least that's what I seem to recall from the display at the London dungeon. I can't remember ever hearing of these being used with a leather belt before. All of the displays I've seen have a chain through the upper ring.

And I'd have to agree with Stan. I've seen them for sale somewhere in my travels either in England or Germany I think.

Hang someone from the ceiling with those, and you'll break their wrists. The screw eye looks too light for that. It's to attach to a waist belt or something.

Thy look hand forged, but the photos all somehow avoid showing the other side, which has the closures of the loops. The screw thread is not a modern machine screw. The latter is the most telling feature indicating their antiquity.
