Does anyone have a picture of an ORIGINAL key for this cuff?

I wonder if the key on the picture really is an ORIGINAL key though? I would very much like to know what an original key looks like.

LARS go to yossie's i'm not sure way but on page one, go up to (BY TYPE) pull that down and right click on handcuffs, than look for austrian $ handcuff and click on it for enlargement, shows key and cuffs but he doesn't say if it is original or not,hope this helps,u could try to contact him!

LK, Yossie shows the barrel key version on his site. Lars need a picture of the key for the flat key version. Unfortunately mine is no original.

i believe that i have an original key for the BARREL key model.... i believe someone has an ORIGINAL key for the FLAT key model as i sold the cuff & key (which i am sure was an original) to someone over the years... GORDY was it you ???? i believe the key had tiny knurls (X check pattern) & i MAY still have an original key somewhere, but where is the thing.... joe

Hi,
I think I saw an original key at the Escape show 2 years ago. Ron Spitz showed off his padlocking version $ cuff so I am thinking that possibly he has an original. If it was not him, then I have no clue as to who does.

Hi All,

Sorry, I do not have a key. This is the only model I do not own. The padlocking cuff Mark mentioned is the same cuff without any key locking device. It has a loop for a padlock. I think this was a cheaper version of the cuff being slightly smaller in size. It came from Ethiopia and was used there in the 1950's. This is also the time the Russians were there. Talking with Mark I feel the origin of the $ cuff is Russian.

I have been trying to post a picture but having problems.

Finally got the picture to work. This cuff is a little smaller than the two other models and not quite as well made.

Okay, fasicnating!!! Let me get this right, as I see in the picture... The section with the square loop is 2 flat pieces of metal with the top one moving away from the ratchet as the bow is closed. Then a padlock of the right diameter shackle is put through the loop prevent that peice of metal with the paw hidden inside from moving upward.

I would be curious to know how the one with the other lock(s) work....

HI everyone.
Mark, when Ron had the cuff at the convention, it was I who
had the flat key model. Someone else had the barrell key so
we took pictures of all three together. My flat key model
has a nice key, but not original. It's made of brass.

Joe T and all I do not have an original flat key for the
dollar sign cuff. I do have a key that Ian made for me
from a tracing that I gave to him. I can not recall where
I got the tracing and if it was from an original key. I
will do some checking but I am doubtful about finding from
where I got it.

Dorson,

That is correct. With a padlock in place the outer strip can not be moved to allow the bow to move.

The other models with the locking device attached works the same way. With the lock on, the outer strip can not be moved. With the lock in the open position, the outer strip can be pulled up to allow the bow to move.

So this makes three versions of the $ lock that I know of.

Here is a picture of what I've always considered to be an original flat key for the $ cuff. I was not the purchaser from you refer to Joe (but I have been a happy buyer on other items!)

BY GOLLY MIKE ::: i think you got it... you are correct, but not from me... this is the PEBBLED (criss cross) type key that i was referring to.... YES, i believe that is an ORIGINAL flat key from the $ cuff.... great find !!! congrats... joe

The knurled grip key isn't cut like the one shown in
the picture above.

Do the different flat key dollar cuffs take different keys?

Are the barrel keyed type dollar handcuffs all keyed the same?

A firend of mine is helping me to make a working key and the picture
helpes a lot.
