#1Handcuff Warehouse recently put a rare Peerless cuff on ebay. It was listed as Peerless Model 1 Lead Chain W/Single Handcuff VERY RARE. I missed the bid, but I've never seen this model before. I do have the solid key cuff in the same configuration in my collection. These were special order only and were never a stock item. Hopefully he will put another one on ebay.

Hi Stan:
I picked up one of these off of eBay a few years ago, in the box, but I don't recall who the seller was. It may have been Discount.
The thing is rather odd. Overall, it's just under six feet long from cuff to ring. The cuff is a left-hand one with just the serial number stamped in the usual place for a late Model 3 handcuff; there's nothing else on it to identify it as a Peerless product except for the fact the serial number on the box matches the cuff. It also seems these things had their own serial number range (mine is 10427).
The end of the box is printed:
ONE EACH
PEERLESS BELLY CHAIN
SERIAL#_________ MODEL# ________
The serial number is handwritten, as is the designation as being a model 1.
There's no way this thing could be used as a belly chain; I think they just used the same oversized box. Rather than just being a possible lead chain device, by passing the chain around a post, then sticking the cuff through the ring, you can anchor someone in place so they won't run off on you. I've had a lot of fun with the thing at backyard cookouts and pool parties, fastening someone to a tree and then squirting them with a garden hose.

This one is the same as Franklin described it and the serial number is 10437.

I requested the history from Peerless on the original set from this thread and their response was:
I wish I could be more accurate. We sold the Model 1 lead chain between 1984 and 1993, we sold a total of 367 in those years. We sold only 8 between 1990 and 1993. Our records for that time are handwritten in spiral notebooks and I have been unable to find the records for the #1 lead chains. Unfortunately I am unable to give you a more accurate manufacturing date.

A whole whopping 367 of them made?
Goodness, they made over 9,000 of their "rare" aluminum cuffs. And I've yet to see one of those offered for sale in the original box.
However, since it's a Peerless item, I'm sure everyone will "discount" it.
