Joe, I just checked out some of your new auctions......I really like the old slave irons; they are very nice. However, I find this auction very interesting: <a href=http://cgi.ebay.com/infamous-J-W-BOOTH- ... Item>Ian's Broken Lilly Iron</a> . In the discribtion, it says that it was made in his early restraint making days (excusing the poor weld quality)......so the quality wasn't as good back then, compared to today???

MIKE :: i really should see if IAN would want to answer your question, but i will voice MY opinion... a master does not become a master until he has improved & proved himself... IAN's products of his early years were very very good & still are..... since then, he has improved his craft & skill & proved to most people to the point where i consider him a MASTER at what he does... if IAN were to make a LILLY today & maybe he does, it would be an almost exact recreation of an old genuine LILLY & you would have trouble telling them apart....i hope that this answers your question... take care.. joe

If you were a little more accurate in your descriptions, i would be more interested in bidding. When you describe an old animal restraint as ' RANKIN type civil war military slave shackle handcuffs', it makes me wonder about the rest of your description.
