not long ago - that is correct. But the cuffs are from Hiatt Thompson, very easy to recognize by the key. On the hinge of cuff at side you can see "HIATT" (difficult on this picture, but you can see that there is something). Cuffs and key are made from nonferrous cast.

I would appreciate any info on these HIATTs anyone may have.

Hi,

These cuffs as you rightly said were made by Hiatt & Co. Mid to late 1970's onwards is about as close as you'll get in date.

Definately not Pakistan.

One cuff says "Hiatt" the other says "England". I just have no info on them as far as when they were made.

They are contemporary cuffs; still in production by Hiatt-Thompspn. The bodies are cast alloy, probably zinc.

As much as you want to make them special, they're not.

Just list on eBay, call them "slave items", mention England, show the stamps, state that they are "undoubtedly and exactly like" the originals that are so difficult to find, and I'm sure you'll find some sucker who will buy them from you.

Include a brass tag stamped "slave"

That really seems to drive up the price.

These were made around 15 or so years ago when they were getting away from making them of steel and went to casting them in Zinc Aluminum alloy. ZnAl alloy is often referred to white metal or pot metal. It's not as good a quality as the old steel and wrought iron ones and they have been know to fail because of the type of metal alloy they use.

First, if you had any guts, your name wouldn't be anonymous. Please don't assume you know what I am thinking, I really don't appreciate it.
I really wanted to keep ALL my brother's cuffs, so if your attempt at sarcasm was related to my recent auctions of his cuffs, read up. The simple truth is, I had to sell them so I didn't lose my house, because I moved down to FL to take care of him for a year while he had cancer, and now I have been maintaining 2 houses for over 8 months and I live on disability. So, I hope you have your tail between your legs now.
