My girlfriend has a pair of these handcuffs and she asked me to look into them. They are Bean Cobb patent date of May 2, 1899. They each have a set of numbers when you open the handcuffs. These numbers are 69244 and 69245. Do you have any idea of the value of these? I plan on taking a picture of them soon. Renee

okay, 2 things to say...
First, the reason it probably is not setting is because of dirt, etc. in the lock case. Simple fix is to remove and clean the lock parts, and inspect to see if there is another problem.

Second, the numbers you see stamped on the hinge area is that the cuffs are matched to one another in the manufacturing process. This is so they don't get mixed up when they are finally assembled.
