I saw these on 3bay today and thought someone may be interested in them..

While short-lived, Winchester had four products:

WN-40 just regular handcuffs
WL-60 leg irons
WL-65 oversize leg irons
WC-80 body chain with separated handcuffs

The first three came in boxes; the last in a plastic sack. There were also some variances on the addresses, phone numbers and such on the various packages.

For the various products, the serial numbers were stamped on the bow of one cuff only, and there was no duplication of serial numbers amongst products. Hence, a leg iron with serial number 002783 does not mean it was the 2783rd leg iron made. Serial number 002782, or 002784, could very well be any other product.

The Winchester handcuffs I own are really nice and well made. The leg irons look like cheap crap that have had the Winchester name stamped on it. Anyone here own them and wish to agree or disagree?

Sure, I'll comment.

I got all of them, and they're damned good. Overall, the ratcheting action is much smoother than a current model Peerless or S&W, and the finish uniform and well done. To build upon your observation about the quality of the regular handcuffs, their other products are (were) just as good.

Well, the body chain kinda sucks though. The link(s) attaching the cuff(s) to the body chain is rather sorry. Nice weld, but the plating on the same is burned off. But, appearances aside, they seem that they would safely and without concern secure an irate gorilla.

The other nifty thing about Winchester (when in business) is that on the leg irons, in addition to two regular keys, they also threw in an extended key as well.

I got the cuffs and there not to bad ,,,to bad this seller wont ship to canada..pretty sad considering 80% of my collection comes from the US .i would like to complete the winchester sets but i guess i will have to wait for a more reasonable US dealer.....

Isn't the winchester model the same as the Chicago X-55 as Hiatt-thompson 1010's, etc? All those handcuff models look identical. I'll bet it's the same company just stamping different names on them.

I have all of the winchester products. I'd have to say they're as good or better than any of the current S&W or peerless products. The ratchet action is smooth and reliable, finish is uniform, welds are smooth with no slag or snags, and they didn't skimp on the metal guage. Double locking is reliable and the key operates smoothly without any "catches" to unlock them in both single and double lock. Very good products overall.

Jon's observation would appear to be somewhat valid as well. On close inspection, the chicago X-55's, winchesters, and henrys are all identical except for the "brand". The H-T 1010's only look the same at first glance. The 1010's have major differences though. But only the e-bay fairy tales ever claimed that winchester actually made these cuffs.
