It's a damnear impossible question to answer. It depends on the market and on Peerless' corporate strategy. They ain't tellin' you that.

I thought the Hiatt 2222 was going to die out quickly, and may still be right. But my supplier says he sells a couple hundred pair a month. At that rate, there will be a lot of 'em out there if they do pull the line.

The Peerless 010 is a more expensive handcuff, but it is NIJ certified, which the 2222 isn't. And it takes a standard key, which the 2222 doesn't.

Not to be contrary but where are you getting your 2222's Dennis? I have 4 pairs and all of them use the standard key. Hiatt, peerless, S&W, American and Zak-tool all operate the 2222's.

I have 4 pairs and all of them use the standard key. Hiatt, peerless, S&W, American and Zak-tool all operate the 2222's.

They're standard 2222s from Hiatts. I just tried them with my belt key, I think it's an ASP. I'll have to check some more keys. The plates are thinner than any other reputable cuffs I can remember. A 2222 key will open everyone else's cuffs.

I remember having a problem with a third party key with my cuffs, once. I traded with a f(r)iend for his copy of the same brand key. His worked on my cuffs and mine on his, so we were both happy. So it may be a tolerance thing; some of the key flags being fractionally wider than others.

I guess I need to check more keys.
