Does anyone know what the original key looks like? I think it is a single bit. Is the cuff single locking or double locking ? Of course i will be able to answer the second question when i get the cuff.

Well done Joe and Stan and welcome to the club!! I do not really know much about why Hiatt produced this pattern or when. About all we know about them is they are very very rare (about 8 known now). They are very low security and do not double lock in fact virtually any bent piece of metal will and does open them.

The set I have is marked BRITISH MADE MARK 2 on one cuff and HIATTS 1960 on the other cuff. The key is a solid single bitted key so you will not have problems getting one cut.

It will be interesting to see what markings are on your when they arrive, certainly the sets I have seen do not have 'serial numbers' so perhaps you will find one is marked MARK2 and the other MARK3??

I do know that at least one example exists with the long bow and several prototypes were made using the standard Hiatt Peerless key - Alex saw these when he visited Hiatt last year - needless to say they has disappeared 5 days before the factory closed when he went there to meet Geoff Cross and take some photos for old times sake. I would guess that these Peerless 1960 patterns were made latter? Possibly even as late as the mid 1980's to see whether they could use existing parts?
