James- Joe Lauher's 2006 Handcuff Annual has an excellent article on Berliners written by Michael Busch. There are several dozen photos from Michael's superb collection as well. I believe the Annual is still available from Cannons.

Here are pictures of the bar cuff. It is similar to the SCHWERTFEGER cuff with a 1912 German patent, but the lock cases are larger. This is the only one I have ever seen with a belt attched, but it makes sense that is how it was used.
