hello steve, I did purchase a set of Field leg irons without keys, and none of my Hiatt keys would fit. I measured the bolt thread pitch by pressing a paperclip coated in playdough against the thread. For best accuracy, I managed to get about four threads impressed, and divided the total length of the impressions by four. I measured the bolt diameter by photographing it with a digital camera, with a ruler in the photo at the same distance as the bolt. The photo also gave a rough idea of the thread depth. These measurements enabled a nice-working key to be made. regards, andrew.
