I have from my grandfather a pair of handcuffs eactly like the pair dislayed at the bottom of your site homepage picture. Have they any comercial value?

Are you talking about the links of cuffs on the left side of the home page, the last pair pictured? Goto http://www.handcuffs.org/gallery/index.html and see if they match what is called the Bean Giant...

Thanks very much for the link. They are in fact Hiatt Darbys - the chain hoop design indicates they the "1800's" model. They are fully functional with what looks like the original key but have a patina of suface rust,
