Are thumb screws still being made?

Is there a company that still makes thumb screws? If so where can thay be purchased? I would like a pair but don't have a lot of dough for antiue ones.

I would hope not.

The vast majority of users of handcuffs and similar devices are police and prison services, and no police force or prison in any country with any respect for human rights would be permitted to use thumb screws.

That said, China manufactures and uses items such as electric shock batons which are considered unacceptable in the USA and Europe - it is posible they are still manufactured there.

Amnesty International campaign for human rights and against the use of torture, and their website is likely to contain information on manufactures of these devices.

You know this is a forum with alot of respectable people who don't have to hide behind "Anon"... If you don't have the balls to use your name, then don't b other posting. There are alot of serious collectors and others with a wealth of knowledge among us to be shared.

First off, I don't know anything about thumb screws. Ian is your best bet for those. As for the Chinese using those and other "unacceptable" things like electric batons... bad news Anon, we use them here daily right here in the good old USA. Stun Batons are not even a new thing, they have been used for years, along with the hand held stun guns, pepper spray, and the newest trend is the "Taser", a air powered pistol that shoots a module with barbs that dig into the suspect and then an electronic jolt is transmitted by pulling the trigger. This is, of course, to try and restrain a suspect with the least amount of harm possible to himself and Police involved. They are effective, but due to Liberals and Liability, more officers than ever are being hurt and killed because of a hesitation to do the job needed , due in large part to groups like Amnesty Int., and the ACLU. Better tried by twelve than carried by six........

I checked out Ian McColl's thumbscrews. They consist of two flat bars that squeez down on the thumbs. I am looking for something like the old ones with jagged edges like thumb cuffs have on them.
