Argus Iron Claw version 2: Anyone have on to sell?

Wondered if anyone might have an Argus claw they'd like to sell. 2nd version would be preferable. There's been alot of claws on Ebay lately.... most of them in mediocre to really bad condition; with the sellers wanting insane prices.

I don't know if it's appropriate to post a Want to Buy post on here, but I thought it couldn't hurt.

I believe I have one that my father had many years ago. He died in 1963 and it went down to my brothers. My last brother recently died and I was curious about this thing. I looked it up and believe it is version 2. My father worked as a police officer and later in his life at a prison camp.
I'm sure its condition is not mint but I can read all of the information and I don't know if it can be cleaned or anything.
Can you give me more info and advise what you think it might be worth? I also have a pair of black handcuffs with key that was also my fathers.

What exactly did they use these things for? If it was for escorting someone it seems unsafe to me as you (the Officer) could easily get your clock cleaned by the bad guy.

Obviously they do a good job, if somewhat inhumane, of prisoner control. If this means the claw in conjunction with an already cuffed prisoner or on it's own the result is the same.

Years ago I read a book I think was called "Death Watch" or "Death Work" which was a fictional paperback about executions in Florida's electric chair. The book was written by the son of a former warden who worked at such a Florida prison and oversaw many electrocutions there.

In the book they mention using claw restraints when taking the condemned from the cell to the electric chair with a guard on either side and each arm of the prisoner gripped in the claw.

This seems to be highly likely as the claw would be perfectly suited for such an application where it was likely a person would resist or try and pull away.

Dear Steve,

The four-person execution team at Broad River Correctional Institution in Columbia, South Carolina still uses the Iron Claw to transport prisoners from their cells to the death chamber.
