Well i got my new M&Ps and i have to say its a neet little feature but i think if you putting the cuffs back in your case you might catch the lever on the corner of your case and they might double lock and you wont even know it.The M&P stamp on them is nice...I cant find my camera so sorry about the poor quality pics...I got them in nicel and melonite

Well you know im a newfie for sure you have to spell nickel this way ..lol..i forgot to mention that i used a key to pull out the lever so you could see the way it works it will spring back when you let it go

Hi, thanks for the update and glad to see the cuff is available. Can you tell me if the deadlocking lever is hinged with a removable pin ( like the pawl) or is the case assembled over the lever?

desperate to have one.

I think it would be relatively difficult to accidentally trip the double lock because the lever must be pulled away from the cuff body to lock. I'm not saying it can't be done. If, in practice, they turn out prone to accidental double locking, we won't see them around long.

I'm betting we'll be seeing them for quite a while.

I have them in stock, in Nickel and Melonite.

How long it will take for cops to begin cutting themselves on the sharp point of this lever when they are struggling to put the cuffs on a very combative suspect.

Dennis, I heard a little birdie tell me that you should check to make sure the double locks are working before sending any out. There's been quite a number sent back to the factory for not working....

That's a good reason for collectors to get them before any changes are made. i heard that teh Nickel finish is OK. The problems are on the Melonite cuffs, and the lever will fall apart if a tool is used to apply too much pressure.
I think the lever is a great idea.

For S&W to incorporate a finger activated D.L.

And, one that would not be easilly tripped and could be put into both the hinged and chain link cuffs. (This new design they brought out will not work on the hinged cuffs they currently make). My idea would work on both.

All they had to do was keep the D.L. slot in the face of the cuff and put a finger actuated sliding post behind it that was raised out of the face plates of the front and back of the cuff enough so that a fingernail could be used to push it over.

This moving button, or post, would in turn push the spring over and D.L. the cuff.

Nothing to catch on anything and no sharp edges.

Similar to the way the Cyclone Cuff works, but with a smaller button ?

But with a button face that sticks out of either side of the lock case so it could be slid to on from either side.

Not really a button like Cyclones.

More like a post that sticks up above the surface of the cuff but only a little bit. Enough for a fingernail to slide it.

A large button would create more risk that it could be slid by accident.

Hi Just got a pair of Smith and Wesson MP's. Just realised that you cannot use too much force on the deadlocking lever as it will break across the pivot hole. The lever seems to be brittle sintered metal.

anyone got a spare????

Ian, I heard someone else had the same problem and they said send it back under warranty. Seems the double lock is not as robust as it should be...

After just one day, one of my levers no longer stays in "open" or "closed" position.

It still operates - but the lever is loose & jiggley.

Hi, I don't think it's worth the money to send all the way back to get any warranty. I make a replacement part but removing and coping the opposite cuff's deadlock lever. The using my arbor press to push the pin in, I fractured the good part as the holes weren't aligned exactly as as the pin just pressed against the face of the lever, bink!, two part fell out of the cuff.

Apart from the weak nature of the sintered material and the hole being so close to the edge of the lever. I can also see the problem with dirt and lint jamming this cuff.

I think these will be reworked if not discontinued and will go into history like Peerless model 400 (?) sintered cuff.

Collect a few now.
