Russian Cuffs

This is a pair of old Russian cuffs I purchased several years ago. I was informed that they were from the collection of Steve Santini. Steve, do you have any information on these? Thanks.

Wow Ron, those are really neat! Can you get a photo of the lock cases (front and back)??? I, too, am interested in learning a few things about these cuffs (age, origin, etc.). Very nice!!! =)

Yes, these were in my collection once.

Seriously, I would like to own them again so if you are ever interested in trading them or selling them kindly let me know.

They are Russian and date to the 18th century.

I got them from one of my contacts in Euope who purchased them directly in Kiev.

I know these seem more like hand irons but they are in fact leg irons for small ankles.

I remember them well.

Thanks Steve. They are neat and I agree they are leg irons. It was my error in the post.

The key opens the lock either CW or CCW. It must be rotated half way around and and can be left in this position to hold the bolt open.

Totally positive.

The only other person I knew that had a set like these was the late escapist Timo from Finland and even he said his set came from Russia.
