detective leg irons

I was just wondering just how uncommon the Tower detectinve leg irons are compared to Romers or Palmers. I have only seen one pair on e-bay since I signed on in 1999. I was just curious as to how many of the members of the forum have a pair in there collection.

I have an unplated model. I think they are about as rare as the Romers, if not a little more rare.

Good to see you out and about. I have seen pics of two other pairs since the pic you sent me from...well...the collection they came from.

Stan is pretty well on top of this, but my experience is they are far scarcer than Romers.

The Tower Detective leg irons seem to be more rare than the Palmer leg irons too (by a long shot). In my opinion, they up there with, but slightly behind, the Adams and Marlin leg irons.

There is a pair of Tower Detective leg irons pictured on page 167 in the book, "Houdini ", By James Randi and Bert Randolf Sugar. I always found these cuffs fascinating even before I learned how rare they were. There are several rare cuffs pictured in this book, all from James Randi's collection. There are a lot of GREAT pictures in this book and it is a must have for any Houdini or handcuff buff!!!

The full title is, "Houdini, His Life and His Art" by James Randi and Bert Randolph Sugar
