Hinged cuffs during WWII ?

I don't know the history of the tri-hinged cufs (when the design was invented that is) This German cuff on Ebay claims it is from WWII

Were these made in WWII or are they later.

I'm certainly no expert but I didn't start seeing tri-hinged cuffs until the early 1970's.
