I have seen a lot of mixed information about Chubb Escorts, and would love to get some clarification. Are these cuffs still manufactured today? And are sales of them limited to police departments in the UK, or do they have a wider distribution?

This is the one cuff I want more than anything in my collection. A shame I don't have the $700+ it always costs when seen on eBay.

I do not think they are worth $700.
If someone has won that on ebay, then it has to be a fluke!
Bidders got in a bidding war or someone just had to have it.
These cuffs are only worth $400 or so and that would have to include a key for sure!

The Chubb escort is still being manufactured In australia they are sold only to prison dept and used for prisoner transfers to court and prison.

Make sure any S/H cuff you buy comes with a working key.

these are excellent cuffs well worth the money!. $400.00 is a very good price for these, they retail for around 350.00 pounds in the U.K. with inserts costing more. if you can find them!. i have several pairs with inserts and they always get ohhhs and ahhhs when i display them. chubb is a very difficult company to deal with, but if you know the right people, they can be had. happy hunting.

Yes, Chubb are still manufacturing Escorts in fact their production unit in Wednesfield is just a few miles down the road from me here in Birmingham, England.

Escorts are on restricted issue, but here in the UK not supplied to police forces - theyre supplied to our Prison Service. As Ian says about their use in Oz, here in the UK theyre used for prisoner transfers (when that task isnt outsourced to one of the private sector security outfits!).

Ian offers some important advice when he says to make sure any s/h cuffs come with a working key; well, in the case of Escorts particularly, I would just add to that for BOTH bracelets!

As for price I offer no thoughts on this site as to what a good price (buyer or seller??) might be - as always, its a matter of how much somebody will pay/accept on the day.
