Thanks for the input, other than carrying them as a sheriff's deputy many years ago, I'm really a novice to handcuffs. Just so all of you know, the auction ends tomorrow night. Some 570 people have viewed the nippers so far and 26 people are watching the transaction. Also, the dealer who made the initial offer has reaffirmed his off-EBay offer in writing, sooo, if you really want this "Lutz, Royce, Trenor, and Chadwick" patented May 3, 1870," don't wait for the last few minutes to bid.

It is a locking come-along with a release lever. Made of brass and cast iron with rosewood handles with three "tightness" levels. The mechanism is in excellent working condition.
