Does anyone know if this genuine vintage or a Trashcanistan contemporary design? And what would it be used for? A gang chain for two or thumbs and toes (like some of the 'warlock restraints' popularized in filmdom)?

I can't afford the $400 BIN price so I'm just a curious bystander.

it seems like there was a set of chain linked "thumbkins" on ebay recently that was attached to a pair of Tower's handcuffs.

Maybe the same set?

These are being sold by the person who bought the set with the 2 Tower cuffs, and look exactly like the set that was with the tower cuffs..

These types of screws were used by French Police and they are not big enough to go around large toes.

I imagine they were linked like this as a sort of escort restraint for 2 prisoners.

Considering these and the attatched Tower handcuffs sold for $200 the buyer is now trying to make a hefty profit from the screws alone at $400

I am the ebayer who purchased the Thumbkins which had a pair of rusted Tower cuffs attached to them on ebay, and had recently offered them for sale. They are original and not reproductions! The screw threads are British Standard Whitworth (BSW) threads and date to approximately 1850-1890's. Each Thumbkin is slightly differant. I purchased them with the intent to resell them. I had stickly collected US made handcuffs, and am now focusing on collecting knuckles. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to email me at handcuff5@aol.com
