Ancient restraints on display in Washington D.C.

I don't know if this will interest anyone here but I just got some pics of some of my ancient and Medieval restraints on display at the National Museum of Crime and Punishment in Washington D.C.

Sadly, these pics are not of the best quality but I was still happy to have them.

This museum also houses the studio where John Walsh broadcasts "America's Most Wanted" from weekly.

nice display .... not to belittle - but once again -- REPRODUCTIONS -- as are in 99% of museums...... again, i will state that - that is how so called REPRODUCTION items after years become to be accepted (by a few) as legitimate ancient items etc etc.... just my view....

hi steve, great collection, thanks for sharing these pictures no one will ever know for sure whats real and whats repo, despite what some may say, i prefer to think of them as legit pieces and surely close inspection will bear this out. you have them, you researched them, i will take your word over many who post here, thanks again, bob.

Yes indeed, I have researched each and every one of them.

More over, I have connections with some leading collectors and museums in Europe and we have shared knowledge and information in great detail over the past several years.

While there are no doubt many "wax museum" types of exhibits that feature "torture instruments", by and large all of them consist of modern made mock ups.

The people I am affiliated with in my quest for ancient restraints and torture devices are far more serious.

As am I.

This forum features some hardcore serious restraint collectors that are willing to go to great lengths to acquire rare and unique historical restraints.

I have pursued my collection with the same dedication and zeal.

The only difference is that what I collect and have chosen to specialize in is just a good deal older than the sorts of things many here collect.

hi, i am just bob from british columbia canada, same country as steve, but not the same guy, i comment here on this forum, because it's a forum, ideas and theories can be discussed here i thought. and i do question a lot of what is said here, and add my own comments if i see fit. i am not into people bashing, unless i have direct experiance of them from personal contact or e-mails or bad deals. now can we carry on nicely please?. bob, in BC.

Every collector circle will have a makeup of certain types of people, One of which being the "know it all".

The "know it all" cannot stand to be challenged with objective questions as he is trying to establish himself as an "authority" so that he can proclaim what is real and genuine and what value to place on objects that have no provable provenance.

I hope that no one got ripped off from the person claiming to have the big collection of handcuffs in
the previous locked thread..

Just as every collector circle will also have people threatened by the actions or accomplishments of others. People who will hide in the shadows, and throw insults and make baseless accusations founded on hate, insecurity and ignorance. Those that do, can. Those that cannot always seem to have useless and hateful things to say about others who actually have the stones to go out there and make things happen.

KAY ::: wow !! you sure hit the nail on the head !!! a person who has said that THEY have done & preformed the most dangerous of escapes, claims to know all there is to know about the TITANIC & claims to have owned many true related items, he who claims to know about there is to know about ALL restraints & padlocks, he who claims to know ALL there is to know about mid evil restraints & has tons of REPRODUCTIONS -- certainly should not have to try to stroke their own backs -- but he sure does.... to tell you the truth, if I knew & could do just half of the above, i would more then likely be wealthy & much sought after to do highly paid lectures, movies, & would be a big celebraty..... wouldn't have time to nor (no offense to anyone ) would take the time to chat on these kinds of forums AS GREAT GREAT AS IT IS !!! ... but i myself am just a common man like most of the rest of you..... joe

There are too many forums where people spend all there time clogging up the threads putting people down rather than putting in valuble/positive input.

Can we please keep this professional!

Joe hosts a great site & he cannot be expected to vet every message, so it is down to those posting to decide to be professional.

I for one appreciate any information given on this forum whether it be substantiated or a persons opinion & it is up to me whether I think it to be true or not. I decide whether I want to take note of it.

I would rather read 100+ unbiased entries giving true informative info on cuffs/restraints & decide whether I think what has been said is of some help than one or two putting someone down.

That is of no help at all!
