#1Some years ago in a trade I ended with a couple pair of handcuffs. I am not a collector and have little idea what I have. The one pair of interest appear to be Tower Detectives. Yet there are no markings I can find. "Fake," I thought. Found a site describing fakes and understand the real thing has "discrete notches, not cross cuts." These have fingernail shaped notches. My dilemma,what do I have? They are well made, plain dark colored with light surface rust. They have one key and work. My questions to the board. Any idea what I have? How (where) do I sell them? And any wild idea of value?

#2Your cuffs are discussed in the thread with the photo, but I thought I'd respond to your "fake" comment. Towers were widely copied (faked) cuffs. Interestingly, contemporary fakes are often worth slightly more than the genuine article.

It sounds like you have a real towers detective cuff. One other give away that tower detective "copies" often have is an exposed hinge pin rivit.

Some better pictures from the original poster would really help determine whether the
plating is worn off or the cuffs were originally polished steel variety.
