Fake or Not Tower handcuffs??

Hi, I'm Sam. My Baby, my 25 year old Daughter is a Patrol office, and loves her job. I was at a antique dealer store, and came upon a old tower handcuffs. But when I went online to check them out,?? they seem to be lagit, and one thing seemed fishy. On the hancuffs there is a brass plate that has Property of Wells Fargo. The plate seems to be glued or a adhesive, but all looks very old. I read that there was Fantacy cuffs made and brass plates most commonly wern't put on, but if they were?, they were rivited on because back then, there were no 100 plus year adhesive to hold that long. So I would love to give this gift to my daughter, but don't want to give her fake. I paid $190.00, but the man I bought it from swears by them and will give my money back if I came up with proof they are fakle?. But I'd rather be told they are real. Also I read that some fakes are worth the same or more??? How can that be???. Thank You,

Too bad that you did not come here before you paid $190 for those.
I have good news and some bad news!
First the bad...
The brass plate is fake! You paid about $65 for the plate.
Now the good...
These are real tower handcuffs. They are worth about $125. Hopefully, you have a key and they work ok. If not, there are great sources here to get one.
My recommendation is to yank the plate off. You do not want to damage the cuff any, but find a solvent that would take the plate off easily.
Your situation is interesting. You have a hybrid fake/fantasy cuff.
All in all, you did ok.
Come to this site often and you will learn to spot quality pieces if you are in the market for other restraints.
Glad you did not get burned to badly. There are other who paid much more for their item and ended up with modern junk

Also, That cuff looks really nice! If you restore it back to its original state, you should be proud to give that nice gift to your daughter!

SAM :: good talk from the others, but sorry that they did not FULLY address what was really needed to be said......GET YOUR $$$ BACK !! PERIOD.... you don't say anything about the keyways.... are they there & clean with the posts intact ???? or is the PLATE hiding a keyway ???? if so, MAYBE it is HIDING something BAD .... do the BOWS have movement to them..... depending on the answers are & you can't get your $$ back - then maybe leave the plate on... sorry to say that, but you may be better off... joe

Hi Joe, There are both keyways and have the posts. The cuffmoves and locks, but I clicked down the one side as you can see, but now can't open them. So What can I argue to the dealer who sold me the fake, what are all the points to make it fake, and I get my money back??. Thanks,

Just give them as is and leave it to your kid whether or not to remove the tag.



Just display them with the keyholes out so the tag cannot be seen.
