I got Two different answers, and still not sure

First of all Thank You Linsey and Joe for contacting me. Linsey said they are real tower handcuffs, but a fake brass plate, known as a fantacy cuff. She stated something like towers went belly up, and the cuffs were made by someone else with the original dies, but were discontinued because Maybe patentet rights??. But there were fewer made so there rare. She said get rid of the brass plate valued at 65 dollars, and the cuffs at 125.00?? Would the Fantacy cuffs or old reproduction with the real tower dies be worth more?? Also where can I get a key if they are real. Let me put this in a nut shell.
What exactly make these cuffs fake, and for me to argue the point to get my money back, I need something that proves my point??. Sorry for all the confusion, but Joe makes a point also, but I'm afraid if I remove the brass plate, I won't get a penny back. Thank You,

They are real with the modern brass plate attatched and aged to look old.

the way i see it is, in this configuartion, cuffs with brass plate, they are suggesting that the cuffs are fair rare and the property of wells fargo.

The price seems high and adjusted becasue of the suggested link to wells fargo.

The plate as everyone says is fake and the cuffs are original. not new dies etc.

I would be asking for some of my many back as the arrangement of the cuffs with plate is what is faked to make them seem more rare and valuable.

Get some money back and then remove the plate.

I think Ian has the best suggestion so far.
Tell your dealer that while it is apparent that your cuffs are authentic, the brass plate is fake and you paid a fairly high premium for the item because of the very obvious deception. I would ask for $75 to be refunded and then accept his counter-offer if one is presented. Even if he offers nothing, you are not out too much and your daughter will appreciate them very much. If he is a jerk about it, give them back and buy a hassle-free pair on eBay. Check back with the seller in a month or so to see if he has a bogus Tower mill going on in the back room.
The imitation price vs genuine price comparison I wrote about previously does NOT apply to this Tower model. I was trying to explain to you about other cuffs like the Tower Detective. The Detective model has NOTHING to do with the predicement you are in with your cuffs. I just clarified why a copy cuff could be worth more than its predecessor as per your inquirey.
Sleep on all of these suggestions for a day or two and hopefully, a proper solution will come to you.

I agree with Ian McColl, and get some of your money back. The cuffs are towers but without seeing more pictures on the front side with the keyholes hard to tell when they were made. Some had patent dates and other things stamped on them. The Towers were manufactured by several companies and there were no patent infringements regarding this cuff. From the picture, the cuffs had plating on them but appears like 90% is gone and fair amount of rust pitting. The brass plate is a fake and is of modern manufacture from India more than likely. My best guess for value with what I have seen so far is $75.
