Help reparing handcuffs

Hi all,

I am wondering if there is a way to repair a set of Colt handcuffs (chain is missing). I'm not overyly concerned with value, these are more for use, and I just really like them. Any info or ideas are welcome, thanks

Are the chain swivels intact? If so, you could get some chain with the appropriate sized links, cut the links, reassemble the cuffs, and weld the chains. A TIG welder would be ideal, but you can weld the chain with oxy acetylene and a small tip. You could also make up some chain links from bar stock.

This would leave the chain un-plated, but if you're careful, you could keep the heat from damaging the cuff finish.

If you have to send them out for this work, it would be cheaper to buy a new pair.

If you want quick and dirty, the smallest size Quick Links from the home center chain department, should fit the chain swivels. That will only set you back about three bucks.
