I was wondering if anyone knows when smith and wesson started using push pin double locks instead of their normal slide pin?

The pushpin double-lock was the norm until about 1981.

Didn't they produce the first model for Peerless on or about 1912?

I wasnt aware that S&W manufactured their own brand of handcuffs until about 1958, though the exact year has been the subject of some controversy on the forum.

Actually, I just realized that the early models used the key double lock -- not the pushpin.

I believe that a man named Wood patented it, and that Peerless bought the patent from him.

Looks like by the time Peerless incorporated the post in the lock the pushpin was added to the rear of the cuff.
Smith and Wesson would later follow suit with their ever-popular 9x series until they were replaced by the current model.
