It's called profit, and it's the basis of all commerce and trade. The Ferengi didn't invent that.
You can't really blame your grocer for trying to make some money selling you milk or cheese. Of course I would have rather paid 200 than pay 2000, but if Arek decides to auction his pair off, who can blame him?
Ebay has long since ceased to be a bargain place for "rare & cheap" cuffs.
