stuck key

I just obtained a key for the old style Peerless cuffs,the first time I try the key went in smothley and I turned it there was a click and the key is stuck. I've opend the cuffs before with another key and didn'thave a problem.Any sugestion how to get the key out?

Try pushing down the ratchet pawl with a small screwdriver and rotate the key at the same time.

..and along the same idea: try pushing the bow in a notch or two

(i.e tighten the cuff 1/2 way or one full notch, while gently turning the key, and see if it frees-up the key).

Mine would stick too.
It really had a difficult time coming out!!!!!!!!!!



Simply turn it till it lines up with notch in key hole. You will see when you are close cause you will see the flag of the key in the key hole.

I tap it from the "other side" using another old style peerless key.
That way you dont put pressure on key and bend it by twisting it to remove the key.
Bending it will make it even more difficult to remove.

The click he heard was the double lock engaging or disengaging.
Are they double locked? Or can they be ratcheted through?
It matters which way you turn or force the key.

I did get the bow to rachet open so it wasn't double locked but the key still won't turn. I see a small pin in the side of the lock, can I drive it out to take the lock apart?

Have we reled the little rust worms inside and sprayed something like PB Blaster to free things up inside the mechanism.

I WOULD NOT REMOVE THE PIN'S (ONLY AS LAST RESORT) SOMETHING WILL GET MARED EVEN IF IT IS JUST THE PIN,IF U HAVE THE RATCHET OPEN U SHOULD BE ABLE TO SEE THE THREE LOCK NOTCHES // BELOW THEM AND ON THE KEYHOLE SIDE U WILL SEE A BAR WITCH IS CONNECTED TO THE NOTCHS DEPRESS IT AS U WIGGLE THE KEY AND 1ST. LUBE EVERYTHING UP.
