Colt Serial Number

Has anyone seen a Colt handcuff with the serial number on the body of the cuff? IThis is the only number on the cuff and appears to be stamped at the factory.(Sorry about the photo-best my camera will do).

Hi Damon,

My set of Colts has a number stamped on the body on the far left side the Colt being on the right side and the key hole in the center. It is #5950. The other cuff just has the markings "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A.". The number is much lighter than the other stampings.

There were a lot of fakes made over the years.

Your's sounds very much like this one. The number is 5473 and also ver light. I have another center key Colt with the number on the bow. There is also a difference in the anti shim , this one being round the other having a retangle shape.

I have aset with serial number 3247, looks just like yours, but my rampant colt is rotated sligly more than yours.
