Hellwig Handcuffs

I was doing some research and came across these cuffs.
Does anyone know much about them especially our Down Under friends.
They are $175 AU and they won't sell to anyone out of the country.
I believe they are Hiatt's by manufacture, but I do not have access to any of my pamphlets or literature to compare.
Any one have info?

Need to reread the the page again, they are clever in the wording but Hellweg did not make them but "Total Control Handcuff" which is the old Hiatt location. Another possibility is they are knock offs and it escapes me which outfit is copying them like they did S&W's, etc.

Hellweg as far as I know started out as an Australian holster manufacturer. I used their holsters some 15 years ago and was very impressed with the quality and function of their gear.

On their website it states;

"Hellweg is the Austalian Agent for the Hiatts range of high quality handcuffs and restraints.

Hiatts range is the most comprehensive of any handcuff manufacturer in the world today, backed by specialist knowledge of restraint equipment gained from more than 200 years experience.

The range includes the finest hinged, chained, rigid and disposable handcuffs."

Maybe the news of Hiatts demise has yet to reach them.

Hi Mark,

these are indeed TCH Model 850 (they even call it Hellweg 850), which are 100% identical to the old Hiatts Ultimate - and pretty sure made on the same machines in Birmingham.

The only difference is the new packaging:


in this picture you can read the TCH 850 stamping on the bow...

TCH is not selling these cuffs in the UK or US, I assume because they are afraid of patent lawsuits with BAE/Safariland, who are now also again selling an "Ultimate" handcuff, but made in the U.S. not in Birmingham...

BTW, the price of 175 AUD is way too high, a TCH 850 is around 70 Euro (which equals about 100 AUD), the Safariland Ultimate even cheaper (but of course, technically, also a different cuff, as made in a different factory).

Hello There
These are Hiatt UL1s, I have a pair with serial Numbers totally unused. They are the only kind of handcuff as far as I am aware of that fold in half with a key. Very solid Cuffs

Hi,

I wrote to the company and they were kind to respond.
The Hellweg's they sell DO have the Hellweg name and logo on them.
This would make this cuff a hard to find variation.

Pete: The ASP Model 300 have the same cuff key hinge locks.
