I am overwhelmed with the amount of ball and chains that are up on ebay..I was hoping to see one or two , but the selection is awesome , if I had the money I know which one I would bid on , but I will have to start selling some of my cuffs and leg irons if I bid on it . i just took a look at the TWO bal & chains.. could be prison made so to speak, but my guess is that they are not..... notice how seller does NOT show good photo of HOW the connector goes into the ball .... in one - to ME -- it looks like a hole was drill & then a PLUG was pounded into the ball etc etc..... the chain gang shackles -- notice how the seller does NOT show any of the connections of the cuffs to the chain ...... also in one photo you can easily see & tell that the cuff hinge pins were REMOVED so that they could be put on the chain & then repinned with a glob of ??? allum -- lead -- iron ???? then smoothed down & all aged of course.... but some antique dealer will buy them -- triple the price & sit on them for YEARS until another fool wants to try to make a buck.. lol.... just my thoughts from an old retarded (whoops !! retired ) collector .... lol -- most of you think the former... no big deal to me.... been there -- seen that -- done that... sit on it -- IF you can't take a joke !!!! joe

I am about to list a ball and chain which I think was made by Iver Johnson. The ankle cuff is an Iver Johnson. I got this several years ago and it came from the original "Poor Farm" in Cheshire, Conn.
When I got it, I enquired about it on the internet and was told that it
was worth about $1000.
I will probaly list it on Ebay, as much as I hate Ebay.
