Anyone here do "alterations"?

I'm thinking of adding the S&W 1850 transport cuffs to my modest but growing collection - but only if I can get the connecting chain shortened (from 32" to about 20").

Can you point me in the right direction?

You might try a local weld shop. Have them cut out a few links, and re-join the chain with one link TIG welded with stainless wire. It should be a trivial job for an experienced welder, and be only minimally noticeable.

I think you can make a special order from S&W through your S&W dealer. They used to advertise restraint chains made to order (price quote on request).
