I recently recieved these Tower Bean cuffs/non plated version and as shown in the photos, each cuff has a mark stamped on it. I was hoping someone could fill me in on what this mark respresents.

I don't know, on the one cuff it kinda looks like a worn

SR atomic logo like maybe your cuffs was sold by Sears and Roebuck.

There are also Tower beans marked "BARNARD".

No one has come up with a catalog or other information to establish who sold BARNARD marked cuffs.

Yeah I have seen past posts discussing the BARNARD markings, which if I remember correctly a few people had in their collection. If no one knows what the star looking symbol represents.....does anyone have a pair with similiar markings at least. Hopefully something, anything can lead me in the direction as to where to at least start looking. The Sears Roebuck idea was a cool and unique concept that had not crossed my mind. Perhaps I can search old catalogue's but can anyone answer how many years after 1909 did they produce the Tower bean cuff and is there any knowledge of where predominately The Union Hardware company advertised there merchandise.

While I can't say for certain what the star stamping means, however as memory serves, I recall somewhere a set of "quality control stamps" used in production of (usually) metal objects.

...At least the ones that I know about are;
1) the "mercedes" logo
2) a "bowling pin"
3) A "ribbon"
4) a 4-leaf clover symbol / very close to what is on the bean's hinge
Perhaps the mark was used to denote seconds or for some other reason...

Perhaps someone with expierence in QC/manufacturing could shed some more info - as I have no clue as to what the QC stamps refer to.

As for the beans with this mark, one of my pairs have it also, I never even paid it much thought before...

No idea about the stamp, but that is one very nice looking Tower Bean cuff.

Thanks Bruce, for being non plated they really do shine. It would appear that I may never really know what the marks stand for...but I'll certainly keep looking. I'm really on board with them being QC stampings since there does appear to be a plethora of different markings on different cuffs. Taiwan....let's hope not lol.

Sorry...I somehow missed the question when it was first posted. Yes "Tower Bean Pattern" is marked on the back of each cuff. There is certainly something implied
in the question...could you please fill me in.
