Oh well, it certainly would cut down on the gear the guy would have to conceal.

On special key with two ends, one for the cuffs and the other end for the leg irons and he is off to the races.

Mysto showed up in England with a letter of introduction to Houdini. He advertised that he did several kinds of magic, but, no escapes, no handcuffs. Houdini got him a try out and said he did not make good. The next thing Houdini knows, Carl Mysto is doing a cheap imitation of his act--witness all those darbies--my mom could get out of those.
Houdini exposed Mysto's coffin escape in photos in the London Daily Mirror.
Uncool!
But, Houdini said he was not out to destroy Mysto or to expose magic. He claimed he had to do what he did to combat the crooked manager who was putting Mysto into cheap opposition theatres, and crabbing Houdini's act.
Still uncool.
Anyway, that's not why I'm posting here--and I realize I'm probably asking in the wrong place, but, does anybody know if "Carl Mysto" was the father of the magician, Duke Stern?

I am Duke Stern's daughter. Grandpa Sterns, Samuel Sterns, was not Carl Mysto. I believe he was in Vaudeville as a comedian and have been told that he was a tailor. Grandpa Sterns was alive as of 1958.
