S&W handcuffs on ebay

ebay item #160458375464, a pair of m100 smith and wesson handcuffs i was lookin at and noticed something i've never seen before. the one cuff has the old style elongated dimple and the other cuff has the new style round dimple. i don't see anything thats tells me someone made these themselves as the chain looks to be factory welded. anyone have any info they can share with me about this it would be appreciated. my guess is they where made about the time they switched the dimple style and it just so happened one of the old style ended up with a new style. or maybe someone is just a really really good welder. please share your ideas on it. thanks

Nicely spotted. I am going to check other cuffs. They don't look like two cuffs hjave been rewelded to become a pair. No theories, (yet)

If a coin has a flaw like a double stamped number or casting flaw... It is considered rare and usually extremely valuable because of its rarity and low production.
With 7,000,000 S&W model 100's made?

It is safe to say these are indeed a rare find and unlike any M-100 I ever seen.
Worth having for a conversation piece alone. Wish I seen them first.

WOULDN'T BE SURPRISED TO FIND THAT THERE IS A POTENTIONALY LARGE NUMBER OF OLD/NEW COMBINATIONS OUT THERE. IF A DIESET IS CUTTING PROPERLY THE OPERATOR OR SETTER WILL WANT TO GET THE GREATEST NUMBER OF PARTS OFF IT BEFORE HAVING TO SWITCH-OUT THE DIESET. AS LEFT AND RIGHT CHEEKPLATES ARE DONE ON SEPARATE PREESES ITS EASY TO SEE HOW SOMEONE COULD OVERLOOK OR IGNORE A MINOR AND PERHAPS ACCEPTABLE Q.C. WISE, VARIATION, ON A HIGH VOLUME LOW MANUFACTURING COST ITEM. OR MAYBE SOMEONE FOUND A LEFTOVER BIN OF OLDSTYLE PLATES, AND THE BOSS SAID "USE EM UP". AS AN ASIDE, THIS PAIR OF CUFFS SEEMS TO HAVE A LOW SERIAL NUMBER!

Remember the picture posted here of a pair of peerless handcuffs with the peerless handcuff co. factory stampings stamped on inside of one of double bows?
I was thinking about that when I bought this odd model 100.

S&W made so many model 100's and other models that are not really worth collecting unless they are a patent pending model or oddity like this one.

Either way you slice it... These are very unique and will look great with the S&W M104H (high security hinged) and S&W Rigid Prototype I just picked up this month. Its been a good month for my S&W collection so far.

If I could only snag that S&W 3way cuff JP has. Atleast i tried. =)

I just took a look at my collection and what I noticed is that the ones with the oblong punch was done in Springfield, Massachusetts and the circle was done in Houlton, Maine. I also took a look at the old mod. 94's and noticed that the mod. 1's have pins in there but the 2nd and 3rd are the oblong punch.
