Apparently they are in limbo now, they (one person) sold a few, got a new patent without the other person names on it, then all of a sudden he stopped selling or communicating.

There was a rumor of a lawsuit, books like they are gone for good now.

They only sold to law enforcement anyhow.

I got to see a pair of handcuffs and leg-iron's, they seemed to be very sturdy and a little heavier than the normal cuffs.

The Gotcha website is still up and running, though there doesn't appear to have been any significant updating for a while.

This morning, UK time - before East Coast USA was awake - I called both numbers shown on the site and both were directed to the Sandhills Executive Center in Southern Pines, NC and a recording invited me to leave a message and assured me that someone would call me back if I left my number! The contact address shown for Gotcha is that of the same executive center which appears to act merely as a messaging service in this case. When I last spoke to Sandhills, probably more than a year ago, the telephonist informed me that they hadn't seen "him" around for several months. But I can only assume that somebody is still paying for the website and for the Sandhill service.

Also at around this time last year I was speaking to a colleague in the States who had been to a trade convention where it was common knowledge that Bill Taper - he who is behind Gotcha - was seeking funding for his products and, so the story goes, he was hopeful of being able to progress his ideas.

Can the cuff be deadlocked without the use of a key??
Many times I have asked about getting a cuff for evaluation and their have been too many restrictions placed on it. When Hiatt made their geared bow model in the 1960s and 1970s they didn't last long , so unless their is more 'Go' in Gotcha it might go the same way.

Their new website is well designed and says they'll be in production in August. They'll no doubt be exhibiting at the Cincinnati conference next week so if anybody can get along there it would be good to hear the very latest news.
