Very Nice Joe.
The plugs are new, but so what. Usually they are missing. With the clevis not running in the same direction as the bow, you'd think it would weaken them. Must have been made on a Friday after a long lunch.

If anyone has an old End Lock like those on the gang chain or Bilbo, I'd be interested

I noticed the unusual clevis attachment. Not sure why it is that way, but I do think the leg irons are pretty early. It is particularly nice that the plugs and key are included.

I notices this and do not know what it means. I think they are pretty early, Hiatt may have trying out different designs. Maybe I will be able to say more when they come.

I bid on them, too, and I was surprised how the prices went through the roof. Got the bilbos, though. Very interesting pieces nevertheless. What a small world.

I'd also be interested in an end lock for my Hiatt Belt.

I'd use the end lock off those Bilboes for your belt. I doubt if the biboes would have used an end lock.

Looking at the photo of the Bilboes, it appears there is a lock washer, apparently spiral wound like a key ring, and an end lock. It looks like the lock washer does not fit through the bow rings, and thus IS the end lock. The end lock, presently snapped through the lock washer, appears to be superfluous.

Am I missing something?

The rare thing about your pair is the chain. I have seen lots of the single cuffs, but only a couple of what I think might be original chains.

Hello Joe,

I also think that the chain is original. It has the same patina like the shackles and you can not slip the cuffs out of the chain.

BTW: including the end-piece the chain of my leg-irons has 10 links, exactly like the one you purchased.

Geunter, very nice item, but one thing bothers me.
One cuff has a left hand thread and one has a right hand thread. You'd have to have 2 different keys to apply these leg irons.

excellent sight!

Indeed both cuffs are threaded differently. The key I got with the restraints only works on one side. I wondered how the seller could offer me pictured showing both sides open, cause he told me that he has no second key.

Luckily the key of my Hiatt Plug-8-Handcuffs works perfectly on this cuff, so that I can indeed open and lock both sides using two different keys.
