I still have the list I've been compiling, and hopefully it's correct and up to date. Early on, I issued a couple of numbers twice. Ron and Mark Lyons both got # 18, but Mark was first and Ron had to settle for # 27.
I don't think I've done that since.
Anyway, the wait is almost over.
I thank everyone for their patience, and am I glad that I haven't accepted any payment until now because I would have rushed it and, honestly, I couldn't have done it in a minute less than it's taken me.
Ideally, I will have the finished books in my hands in 4-5 weeks.
At that time, the price will be 195 + 12 shipping in the U.S.

I am really looking forward to seeing this book. Patrick's early two volume set, THE TAO OF HOUDINI and THE SECRET CONFESSIONS OF HOUDINI is a real classic. This new volumne is sure to be an instant hit as well.

I should have an actual shipping weight by next week. I will work with any overseas buyers to find the best way to ship at a reasonable cost. I do realize this is a problem, but, I shipped the previous books to quite a few countries and this one will weigh somewhat less and be a bit less bulky--we'll just have to work it out.

Hi Pat,
I wouldn't miss this for anything. Just making sure I'm still on the list, and if not, add me to it.
I know I said YES-definitely, at the convention, but it never hurts to make sure. I'm very much looking
forward to it. And to everyone else, I have Pat's other books, and if this is what I think it will be, I'd
advise everyone on this site to order a copy. One; GREAT reading and very complete in it's information.
Two; and I suspect Pat doesn't really like this reason beacuse he wants them to be read, and not just set on a shelf,
but his last set turned out to be a fantastic investment. Keep us informed when you get them back

When I saw that I had misspelled Joe's name in an earlier post, I quickly referred to my index (mine is the first book on Houdini's methods to include an index) and found, to my relief, that I had spelled it right.
I want very much for this book to fall into the hands of the people who will read and use it. I wasn't trying to create a collectible, I was trying to create a textbook on how Houdini did it, and that is why I have spent over a year compiling the list of those interested enough to ask me to reserve a book.
I think I have reached a lot of people who will get something out of this book.
If you are on the list, I will hold your book for you, but, the price will have to go up after publication.

I have seen the previous publication briefly but do not know what information it contains.
I am not even sure what information I can expect to get from the new book.
Will some of the first book's info also appear in this volumne?
If I am never able to find a copy of the first, will I be missing out on too much info?

I am looking forward to finally getting this book but would like to know what to expect when reading it.

Houdini--the Key has everything that book two of Houdini Unlocked had, but, sixty more pages, twice as much text and more than twice as many illustrations.
I think there have only been five books on Houdini's methods published before. None of them, including mine, covered the subject adequately. None of them, including mine, had an index. None of them discussed the inventors like Dr. Waitt (the Plate Glass Box) and Montraville Wood (the Milk Can and the Iron Box).
I mentioned them both--and Bert Clark (the Iron Boiler), but I didn't scratch the surface of their involvement with Houdini in my previous book. None of the previous books had copious notes. And in the Key, I give my sources right on the same page as the reference or quote.
By the time readers get through Houdini--the Key, they'll have a very good idea of what Houdini did in his performances and stunts and how he did it.
I can honestly say that while Gibson's Houdini's Magic and Houdini's Escapes, the Cannell book, Houdini's Fabulous Magic by Gibson and Young, and the Secret Confessions of Houdini by me, are fun books to have, but, no one who buys Houdini--the Key will ever need any of them.
It comes with a matching slipcase.

That it would be very interesting for an escape artist to write a book detailing how Houdini went about performing many of his more notable escapes.

An "industry insider look" if you will from a modern day escapist who actually has the knowledge to properly decipher how things were done by Harry would be a welcome addition to the books out there.

Sure, Randi "sort of" did this with the Sugar book but he really did not reveal anything as Harry actually did it.

I am not saying that the numerous H.H. books done by collectors and historians are not useful because they are. I would just personally like to see the book I mention above.

It might be an almost impossible task for the escape artist to write the book you would want. The years of research involved alone, most could not commit the time to do it. Then you place the expense of doing the research and the field is down near zero.
