Bean Giant Repair

I sent this non-working Bean Giant to Ian McColl for some rehab. Someone had worked on it previously and had removed the back plate, replacing it with brass screws. Ian did a great job on the insides and it now works perfectly. Many thanks Ian!!!!

What is interesting about this cuff is that both bows are short by one notch (roughly 1/2 inch.) The factory nickel is still on the tips of the bows and there are no tool marks indicating after factory alteration. Does anyone else have a short bows on their Bean Giant?

Ian did a superb job on the finish as well. I have handled a few Giants and the key/lock action on this cuff is just outstanding.

Ian as usual has done an excellent job. I just keep wondering how you got him to work on your bean giant when
he wouldn't work on mine. Excellent work Ian. Very interesting with short bows Damon; I wonder why that was done?

short er bow's hummm another indication that lovell made bean gaints,note the keyhole smaller also!

Hi, I have no idea why the bows are shortened by one hole ( the hole at the end of the bow, not the hole near the shoulder ) The cuffs do have the washer in the hinge so they was made by Lovell. The keyhole is smaller as I resized it as it was worn and the key had too much slop in it. The key than came with the cuff was worn or damaged and was half the width of an original key.
