#5You can fool some of the people some of the time but you can't fool the people all the time. !st red flag is that the cuffs are Crocket & Kelly's with the keyhole to the side(like S&W). 2nd red flag is the nails and screws, something Santini would conceive. 3rd red flag is the welding job is new, no aging. And the 4th one which is a double RED FLAG, is the little hole near the keyhole that is not there on factory cuffs. Which I suspect is there to be able to release the lock because it has been gaffed. I have doubts that something like this would have been permitted to leave Iraq in private hands as they would document this sort of stuff like the Iron Maiden I saw in news pictures. And if Uday Hussein spent money on building something as elaborate as an iron maiden, then why such a poorly built and rigged set of cuffs on a rod. As sadistic as Uday was, and knowledge of torture devices, money available, I find it hard to accept this as real. I would want to see a letter stating chain of custody of the item presented.

#7I'm not the one making unverified claims, and I don't suffer from being an attention junkie. Cut the BS, as there are many others here that think like I do. I did escape magic as a teen and I didn't have to use gaffed cuffs to do my acts.

#8Anon456 makes some salient points that you won't answer. I wonder why C & K were used when S&W's, Peerless, Hiatt, etc. are more common and available than a cuff that has been long out of production.

#9i noted that the public was not invited, but local newspeople were. what 1 carefully selected paid person. without a doubt. if the torture c&k cuffs were really confinskated by a u s service person they surely would have ended up on ebay, but puffing oneself up is not wrong..

#14If this iron is what Steve claims it will be a one only collectors item. It also might be the property of another government if it were stolen by some soldier on the other end. And if that were true it could lead to an investigation.
What I don't understand is that Steve a collector himself knows when there is a question of a story behind a cuff people here ask for documentation. Lagitimate questions have been asked and Steves reply was,

That did not clear up anything. It really sounds like he has no evidence to prove the story so what can a person conclude?
This story will follow Steve forever now and I don't think many will believe it.
It dosn't take a Columbo to figure out what is going on here.

#17If you all have better things to do, then why sit on here and whine and complain because you can't do what he does. Its truly amazing how low people can sink. Steve Santini has done amazing things, and will continue to do them....have you guys done anything? will you? I think not, so why not just shut it & grow up, seems like a lot of people need to do that one here.

So Steve, instead of trying to impress us with your escapes, why not just stick to what this forum is about, collecting, identifying, sharing knowledge, and get along with fellow collectors...

#20I have a serious question to ask Steve. I am not passing any judgement I would just like to know about the round hole in the cuff. I have seen slots to double lock but this is a round hole. It looks like it can be used to take the double lock off.
Could you please tell me what that hole is since it was not from manufacturing? Peter
