This is one for you handcuff kings. It's an beautiful original portrait shot of Houdini from my own collection, but I admit I don't know what he means when he calls his "the reformed Handcuff Expert." Do you?

However, the previous year, he had been conducting impromptu classes for servicemen, advising them how to escape from the "German Transport Chain" by stealing slack.
The handcuff act was all but dead for him, but, he would dust it off now and then and prove he could still "sell" it.
So you think he might be using the word "reformed" to mean "retired" here? That's kinda what I think too.
