...the Forum would survive unscathed without the odious Facebook social plugin on the Forum home page? I still have a dialup connection. The Facebook plugin has an high resource overhead, meaning it takes a long time to load and slows everything down at every turn.

All things Facebook ought be confined to Facebook. So say I, even though in the great scheme of things it ain't no big deal, what?

The large Facebook plug-in will not be a permanent part of the site. It will go away in early January and be replaced by a smaller link to Facebook that will not require so much bandwidth.

Like it or not, Facebook and the other social websites are with us to stay. For many young people they are totally replacing conventional email and web browsing as we know it. The Handcuffs.Org forum is not going away, but a Handcuffs.Org page is also going to remain on Facebook.
