Hello Handcuff Collectors,
Mark Cannon's told me it was OK to let everyone know that there will be no Cannon's Escape convention this year. So,
if the collectors want to get together this year, it will be Indianapolis that we have the chance. Below is the informationon
on the convention. Also, without going into detail, there will be a LOT of handcuffs for sale at the convention. A very major collection
will be sold, with handcuffs from $10.00 to much more expensive pieces being sold. So, if you want the chance to acquire handcuffs,
I guarantee there will be enough for everyone. Those familiar with what I'm talking about please don't elaborate, but email me privately
and I can fill you in. HOpe to see you all there. Mark you dates now! Lyons just told me flights from California are very cheap right now
being less than $150 round trip from his location. Book now. If you want a table, book it now. Hotel rooms, call. Here is the information.

Hi all,
I need to set the record straight on a couple of things.
I checked the airfare and found a price of $114 EACH way to Indy and back.
It was NOT the price for a ROUND trip ticket.

More importantly, it must be stated that the major collection that is being sold, HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ANYTHING IN MY COLLECTION!
The reason I stress this is because a certain incompetent and chronically late to court hearings lawyer (who just got caught lying to the Judge about an ex-parte hearing postponment) reads each and every blog here and will stupidly assume that the collection for sale was mine and will double charge her client for more $$$$ even though she knows good and well that I am the only party in the divorce proceedings who has abided by the family law restraining order and have not sold off any of the community property.
Therefore, I will NOT have a table at the convention and I will NOT be bringing ANY cuffs to sell or trade.
I most likely will be buying some cuffs and will be either taking photos of the cuffs or will have some other documentation of any purchase so as not to incur any legal fees when this neurotic legal hack accuses me of any handcuff wrong-doing.
Note to the evil hasso: Quit spending so much billable time reading this blog and start reading your legal proceedure book. I think it will serve you better.....and show up to court on time for once! And while you are at it, quit wearing those ridiculous clown outfits and hideous bangles that you wear. EVERYONE is laughing at you!

Sorry about getting off track....This nincompoop amps me up, sometimes.
Indy should be a fun time for all that can attend and I am looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting some new ones.
Get your plane tickets early!

Well it certainly is sad news to hear that there will be no Cannon's as I truly hoped to attend my first one. I shall keep my fingers crossed that one day they will host another gathering.

Hope to see you all in Indy as it will be nice to have a much larger group than we had last year! A few names to add to the list are...Damon Shields will likely attend and Mr. Guinta has showed interest in attending as well.

Joshua-I'll be there. It's not warm sunny California but it should be a lot of fun. For non table holders there is a $5 admission fee.

There is a dinner at the hotel on Saturday night and John Bushey will be one of the guest speakers so we will have superb entertainment. Dinners are usually about $20.(Pete says the menu will be improved this year.)

The host hotel is the Ramada Inn at 6990 East 21 st Street, Indianapolis, IN 46219. The phone is 317-351-1656. Mention the padlock show when you call reservations and rooms are $69 plus tax.

What is a hasso?

A hasso is (in my opinion)is an unbelievably lucky person.
How this person graduated law school has to be a million to one long shot.
She has a horrible reputation in the legal community and has demonstrated unethical behavior many times. She is so bad that I had to file a protective order against her because of her unreasonableness.
The last time we were supposed to be in court, my side was there but she didn't show up again. (Perpetually late or AWOL) The Judge called her on the phone and asked why she was at home as there is a court hearing in progress that SHE requested. Then she lied to the Judge. She told him that court clerk postponed the hearing to later in the day because of her broken down car. The Judge asked the clerk who files the postponements and she said that "NO SUCH CONVERSATION TOOK PLACE"
BUSTED!!!!!!!!!!
Now even he knows that most everything out of her mouth is Bovine Manure. She has absolutely no respect for the Judge or his court.
Meanwhile, she keeps making ludicris motions and bills her client for all of her experimentation. I thnk this is her definition of "practice". She laughs all the way to the bank...if she is even getting paid.

This site is supposed to be handcuff related so I'll stop now, but I did want to show those who care what I have been up against in the divorce and with my pending handcuff collection appraisal.

For anyone who is interested in getting a table at the show, they are 6' long by 30" wide and are $25.00 each; you can reserve them by contacting Pete Schaefer. Pete's e-mail address is schaef487 @ comcast.net or you can call him at (317)-251-3951 (this is his home number).

I talked to the hotel guy today but he was unable to tell me how many rooms are left for the two days you will need. Two years ago, I had to stay at another hotel the first night because they ran out of rooms, so if you are going, get your room booked as soon as you can. Also, be sure and tell them that it is for the Antique Lock Show because we have a lower rate.

Again, I hope to see everyone there.....we need a good handcuff collector turn out!!! =)

Hi Ian,
Happy New Year. I assume they have New Years down there.

hasso is not a word. It is her last name. I purposely do not capitalize it because it would reflect some degree of respect or acknowledgement of a proper noun. I have no respect for this person, place, or THING. While this hasso is actually more of an ally to me than an opponent as she has consistently lost ground for my ex-wife.
Normally, a divorce such as this, would have long concluded by now but she is milking this job and will leave the ex with no assets that she should have walked away with.
If Webster was still around, he very well may have coined the word: hasso--the act of extracting money from a client by lying, committing perjury, and utilizing unethical tactics while actually being or appearing as a professionally inept person.

I have been asked about the clown outfits and people can't believe me. A few have actually seen these outrageous costumes and told me that I have described them to the tee. I don't want to go on about all this but I will say that NO ONE else in the court house (and it is a BIG one)dresses like this (or anywhere else that I am aware of). All the female lawyers dress appropriately with a nice pant suit or skirt and show respect for the court. This one wears black polyester bubble pants and shoes that lace halfway up her cankle. Not unlike some of the Vegas burlesque showgirls. Her belts are not what one would expect to see in a professional atmosphere. Hers are always larger than 12 inches thick. Perhaps she uses them as a girdle. Kinda resembles a Baker Escape Belt! The gaudy costume jewelry looks like it was ordered from the back of the hooker's union monthly newsletter. One ring she wears looks like she set a big lump of coal into a gold band. Perhaps she is hoping that in less than a million years, it will turn to diamond.
I would say that her dress style is not funny, but rather sad. Heads do turn as she walks down the hallway and I am sure that she has this very strong desire to attract attention, but the snickering that goes on behind her back is what is very funny. It is often hard to contain my laughter. My attorney just shakes his head.
I wish I could get a picture of this. I am not sure how wise it would be to have one though. I am trying hard to have only positive things in my life and this certainly would not be in line with that.
By the way, all the above is only my opinion and may not reflect actual fact.

Mark, if your ex-wife and her lawyer reads all of these posts, you might want to re-think what you post here. I was pre-law in college and I am pretty sure that, "By the way, all the above is only my opinion and may not reflect actual fact." will not excuse all the slandering you have done to hasso, as you call her. From what you have written here, I wouldn't hire her to handle any of my legal troubles, no matter how insignificant. Therefore, you seem to have damaged her reputation as a lawyer (what she does to earn an income and provide for her family and herself) and now your slander, or libel as we call it due to the fact that it is written not verbal, can affect her income.......hence: monetary damages. She might very well be able to bring a law suit against you from this whole ridiculous mess that you are feeding into. Something to think about.

Now, can we get back on the topic of The Lock Show, handcuffs, and all the things we come here to read about and share? Or are we going to continue to talk about Mark's messy divorce and help him dig himself a little deeper?

Ms. Hasso, if you are reading this, give Mark a break....he is a great guy that is going through a rough patch right now......he doesn't mean any harm with his hateful words. Also, thank you for your generous appraisal of my new Bean Cobb Leg Irons......you really know your cuffs! =)

I had a contentious divorce with an unreasonable wife and a stupid lawyer. Fortunately for me, my attorney was a scrapper - good in a knife fight.

Yes, I did not mean to get all amped up and post my anger about her here.
When John mentioned that a fantastic collection was being offered, I knew that she would file some frivolous court papers under the assumption that I was selling off community handcuffs.
This is what she does instead to just attempting to settle this divorce which has been in the works for 3 years.
I shall not post any more about this topic here.

Hi Mark, thanks for the description and your opinions of this person. I would hire her if required, so I can say that anything said about her has not hurt her reputation. Kids parties and roasts would be the ideal places. I have met and dealt with worse, it normally always comes down to money and greed and selfishness and when push comes to shove, it's always the other persons fault. People who claim a higher moral ground that never hold water in the real world.

I wish this was settled for you quickly Mark, lots of lucky and sympathy. Happy new year to you and yes we do get new year and we had it before you. (this year)

confusion about handcuffs for sale. They are NOT yours. Can we get back to Indy?
Who will be going?? I'm in contact with Mark and Andrea Shultz, and will be
calling Pete Schaffer to let him know what's going on. If you want a table,
write to him soon. Reserve your room. Should be plenty of space, but tables
usually sell out. Plenty of handcuffs will be for sale. Many have emailed me so this will be a great chance for us collectors to see each other, talk, trade, buy, sell,
and look at thousands of interesting padlocks. It will be great to see each other
and share and catch up. Contact anyone who collects but may not read this forum.

It use to be the Holiday Inn but turned into the Ramada sometime before the last Lock Show. It is the same building just under new management. Here is all the hotel info:

Ramada I-70 East

6990 East 21st St. Indianapolis, In 46219

I-70 & Shadeland Ave. Exit #89

The phone number is (317)-359-5341 (reservations)

Sales director for the Ramada, "Paige" (317)-351-1656 (she is handling this event from the hotel's end but she just had a baby and will not be in until mid-February).

Special room rate: $69.00 per night (+ tax) for rooms with either 1 large bed or two smaller ones. Smoking or non-smoking both available early on but you might not have a choice if you wait. I believe that you can also reserve cots for your room for extra guests as well but I have never had to use them at this hotel so call if you need them.

*You have to tell them that you are with the Lock Show to get this price....and trust me, this is pretty cheap when you check out other hotels during this same time frame.

Set up is Friday afternoon probably about 4:00 -6:00 pm (not specified) or Sat. at 7:00 am

Doors open at 9:00 am Sat. to non-dealers and the general public.

Doors open Sun. at 8:00 am and you have to be packed up and gone by noon.

There is a dinner at the hotel on Sat. at 6:30 pm....cost is going to be about $20.00 per person and you will need to purchase tickets for this in advance. Tickets will not be available until after Paige gets back so get with Pete toward the end of February.

Just spoke to Pete Schaffer. He said there are a few tables left. Convention - free. $5.00 to get into dealers room, good
for both days. Dinner Sat. night - $20.00. One talk that night will be by me, on combination lock handcuffs; French letter cuff
and the Lorey combination handcuff. They wanted Houdini tied in so I'm adding the letter cuff part to the Lorey part. Lots of padlocks
and handcuffs to buy. Still some rooms left too, so do reserve soon. Contact Pete Schaffer above posting to register. If you have questions

I'm not sure if it's a good or bad thing, however time is passing by sooooo fast for me, it feels like I just got home from last year's Indy. HaHa!

I wish everyone a safe trip out, and for those of you who have chosen the "pressurized soda can with wings" method of travel; Please comply with the TSA's orders and be sure to remove any and all metallic objects from your pockets to prevent being subjected to virtual strip-searches, or at the very least, being put into cuffs not your own. -"But officer, it's part of my religion to wear a leaded trenchcoat"

Hi all,
I have calmed down a bit since I posted the bit about the opposing lawyer.
Today, I got word that she quit or was let go of her legal duties in this case.
It may have been best if I didn't post my displeasure of her on this site, but it was directly related to the news of the collection that is now up for sale.
I believe that her new attorney will be much more professional and may try to resolve this case and undo some of the damage that this hasso created.
I thank everyone who did offer encouraging words. It is nice to have friends in this community that give much more than just handcuff knowledge.
