ER Leg Irons?

I think I own a pair of leg irons. There seems some doubt about the 3 links versus 5 links between the cuffs. The opening is 3 1/2 by 2 1/2, I'm sure they are leg irons. Both cuffs will lock and unlock with a brass key I made. I have the original key, but it must be stripped (it is a right hand threaded key). Can anyone help me with a new key/repair, or further identify these as ER? What would be the value of these in this condition, as I understand that they are very rare? There are no markings on the leg irons. The top of the key has 555 stamped on it. The links have not been shortened/cut. Everything is orginial on these leg irons. They weigh 4.5 pounds.

Hi Gary, the cuffs are rare but not very rare, What is rare, is to find a pair in such poor condition. The patina seems odd as if they have been in a fire but that cannot be true as both springs are fine. I had heard that one side is not locking but both sides close. (?)
One side is out of shape and U shaped whereas the other side is the nice oval shape. They are definitely not worth $8500 but more like half that.
I have been offered $6000 for my pair (see photo) which work well but not an original key. And both pair havent been repaired or out of shape, same three links also.

They are either large handcuffs, or small leg irons.

Man they believed in making them plenty beefy. Looks like you could tow a truck with them! Might be uncomfortable on a duty belt though.
