I am looking for a set of hss9 handcuffs with lock number 118. Also i was wondering if an existing pair could be re-keyed to match that key. Thanks for any and all input.

I don't have a set in my collection but if one can remove the pin that holds the core, then one can do some sort of rekeying. If memory serves me and if I am wrong I am sure someone will correct me but I think the lock cores and keys are Lowe & Fletcher.

Nothing wrong with that at all.

And there is also nothing wrong with people here, if they do not have the info he seeks, coming on here and saying, "Sorry man, can't help you but good luck."

What IS wrong are the endless posts on here from the numerous "annonymous" posters with nothing useful to say yet plenty of rude comments to heap on.

If this is a forum that shares information with people interested in restraints then it should be just that.

Sorry, but on my HSS-9, the keys are made by Manurhin. I don't see any hint for a Lowe & Fletcher origin.

Tremex, check the key blanks and you will find it to be Lowe & Fletcher and Manurhin did not make the lock cores.

Take them to a locksmith and he will either remove the plugs to rekey them or he will be able to impression them without removing the plugs.

I impressioned a set myself a few years back without having to disassemble them.

Actually i was just kidding about being ignored. I actually have a sense of humor. Secondly thanks for everyone who responded with a post. And Lastly, the reason i am looking for a set of cuffs with that key number is i purchased a set of hss9-bl1 leg irons and that just happened to be the key number. I was looking for a set of handcuffs so i would have a matching pair. I have several hss9 handcuffs, just none with that particular key. I would be willing to trade a set or purchase outright if anyone USEFUL (not you ANON) has a set with that particular key. Once again, thanks everyone for any and ALL help!!!

Hi Blackburn, here is my drawing of the inside of the Hiatt handcuff. The hinge pin needs to be removed so the retaining (roll) pin can be removed, before the barrel (plug) can be slid out. Hope this help.

Thanks for the picture Ian. I have successfully removed the hinge pin. Do you have any advice on how to remove the roll pin. Perhaps a long small screw?

Hi Blackburn, There are two ways, each frought with some danger. For the first method, it is best if the cylinder is turned 1/4 turn (either way)
Take a sharp (new drill)about a standard size smaller than the hole, I would use a drill press rather than a hand drill, drill into the roll pin, as it is hollow, the drill should grab it ( you should hear the change) and remove the drill, it should bring the pin out with the drill. (It might take a few shots before it happens)

Second method. The barrel or plug has the keyhole open to the circumference, this is normally on the opposite side to where you would see the 'wafers' (Eng) or discs (US). The barrel is trun so that the void of the barrel is under the roll pin, and roll pin is pushed down in the void. When the barrel comes out, remove the roll pin to be used again.

How do you make that drawing?
I realize you have some software that does it, but maybe you could tell us the process as easily as possible.
It really is professional looking and I would expect that you could do this easily if you had a career in web design or some architectural experience, but I don't think this was the case.
For a locksmith and quasi-mechanical engineer, this is very impressive!

I cannot use anything to clever, I am a simple hands on type person.
