Unless I'm missing something here....Bianchis are a Japan/Taiwan cheap quality import handcuff...usually used as a cheap "back-up" handcuff by security guards.

I see no reason why anyone would pay more than $15-$20 for them.

If someone can set me straight - I'd love to hear.

You are correct. I believe the Bianchi was made in Taiwan in the early 70s. It is a typical Peerless/S&W single pawl design. They are polished stainless steel.
Bianchi was known for expensive equipment holsters, cuffs, belts and so on. I think they were trying to compete with Safariland which also had expensive equipment. I cant say for certain but I would guess the Bianchi cuffs were quite a bit more expensive than their US made counter parts at the time. The finish is pretty well done and they are individually serial numbered.

It was a decent cuff at the time. I see them for sale from time to time but dont have any idea of the going price.

Bianchi model 505 cuffs were made of nickel-plated steel, there was an earlier model 500 that was stainless.

While this cuff was not specifically banned from my police adademy, these types of cuffs were.
We had to use NIJ approved cuffs and it was assumed that it would be Peerless or S&W. Hiatt could be accepted if presented, but no one did.
I was the odd ball in the class as I bought the S &W M and P cuffs which, as we know, does not need a key to double lock them. They have the small lever actuator near the swivel.
Several times, my instructors would be watching me to grade me on my "arrests". They would critique me for not doublelocking my cuffs and I would have to beg to differ. They would try to close the cuffs some more and wonder how I did this as they were watching for me to take my key out of my duty belt and secure my "prisoner".
They liked my cuffs as they never seen them before.
They also liked it when on "handcuff day", I produced a shiny pair of Towers from my belt.
Another cadet produced a pair of furry cuffs.

The Bianchi's are not, in my opinion, much to feature a video about. They might be good for the bedroom or something, but have no use in law enforcement.

I missed the extra 5 but the 500 is not a bad cuff. I could not afford Bianchi cuffs as a young cop. My $13 Peerless were just fine at the time. There was no NIJ and double locking was not required.
