#4I made an offer on this lot of cuffs of which considering they are in bulk and the condtion I valued at about $900. My offer was $700 and expected a counter offer and so on and so forth. Oh boy was that a mistake...I recieved a plethora of not so polite messages from the seller accusing me of attempting to rip her off. I did my best to explain my position and urged the seller to write on the forum and see what you all's opinion was. Again I recieved a not so pleasant response. They did make a counter offer though....$1300 plus the 4 cuffs they were bidding on that I have up on eBay right now (a Rankin, an Iver Johnson, a Frogatt darby and an RCS backstrap). I said that I would have to respectfully decline as that trade would be extremely one sided. They went on to state that I was just one of those collectors who just tries to pick up cuffs for cheap and never willing to pay legit prices (my wife would likely disagree with that).
Anyways, I could go on for a while about how silly the responses were (humurous though). What I would ask is that a few of you give your opinions of what you would pay for this lot. I continuously explained that I had no intentions of offending them...but apparently I did not do that too well.

#5There are no "legit" prices in collecting items such as these. They are worth what a buyer is willing to pay for them.
For instance, I prefer swing through cuffs in my casual collection. This particular lot doesn't float my boat and I probably wouldn't pay a dime for all of them combined even if they tossed in free shipping.
It's always nice to eventually earn a financial return on any purchase made, but unfortunately restraints of any sort are definitely NOT a smart investment financially. Collectors buy them because they want them, and after that they generally don't care about the value as they aren't bought and sold like gold and silver are...

#8As a non-swing through this is a common enough cuff most collectors probably already have one. The only possibility I could see was someone wanting them to start a dealer's table and they might want some old timers. But again a dealer pays a lot less for a wholesale lot than retail. Or if you wanted a stock to make gimmicked cuffs from but again bulk means wholesale.

Wouldn't it have been great to see Aunt Ester pull out a vintage pair of Maltby's or Towers and slap em on ole Fred ??? Nobody can ever duplicate the part Lawanda Page played as Aunt Ester . isn't it why we collect handcuffs etc ? to hold onto something from the past ... A moment in time that we can hold and imagine what it was like to be there . ( just my opinion . )
