I fail to see any scam going on in the sellers auction , if you want to pay $1,299.99 for a pair of handcuffs , be my guest ... if you don't , well ..... nobody is twisting your arm here . The seller has them listed with a set price , so where is the scam ? Most likely this post was made by a competitor of the seller , trying to make the seller look bad . How about enlightening all here with some facts to back up your claim instead of rhetoric and innuendo ... ( my opinion )

I also fail to see the scam. He has 100% positive feedback, but only 26 feedback total, and most of that buying. I see a couple of problem feedbacks, even though positive, but nothing out of line for a newbie with only 26 total.

What, exactly, is OP's beef?

Anyone notice... This seller just happens to live in Georgia.
Sounds like this seller Jamie needs to change his ebay name to Mylanta because someone is gonna have a massive diaherria attack when they realize they paid $1,100 more then they should for a "USED" handcuff. yes used. its taken out of its original packaging.

Collectors take note..... Anyone who agrees with this crap here should be aded to your block list on ebay and avoided at all costs. They think its ok to rip people off $1,100 on a commonly available handcuff from Discount Handcuff Warehouse. I think its wrong to have multiple ebay accounts.

Im almost tempted to open another account just like these guys and buy all their junk. Ill never pay! If they got stuck with ebay final value fees.... MAYBE THEN THEY WILL LEARN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok.... This wonderful seller lives in Iowa NOT Georgia. Mylanta is off the hook.

I also over looked the 6% tax he plans on charging everyone on top of $1,299 price tag.

Just for the record, Atlanta*Casting lives in Michigan, not Georgia or Iowa.......he is not the seller.

In my opinion, the seller is no better or worse than the guy who puts a buy it now price of $2,000.00 or more on a fairly common Keen Kutter padlock (like the one I bought at Indy this year for $50.00). You have to shake your head and walk away. You can feel good about one thing.......putting buy it now auctions on eBay is NOT free. This joker gets to shell out money to eBay every month for a set of terribly overpriced cuffs that will NEVER sell for asking price. So let the idiots be idiots and let collectors know where they can get the same thing for a better price. These cuffs are not hard to find so the seller is not keeping anything from the collecting community.

He is not as bad as the guy who found a Guiteau cuff at a gun show for $300.00 and held the collecting community hostage for $16,000.00, and then for $10,000.00 when we didn't answer his demands and then for $7,000.00 and so on until someone snatched it up. Guiteau cuffs are not readily available anywhere else for less money.

My point? Let the idiots be idiots and let eBay thrive off of their "didn't sell" fees. eBay is headed in a downward spiral due to the rate increases and making sellers pay tax on their sales and so on. It is just a matter of time before it goes belly up because people will not sell there anymore. So let these jokers create these outrageous auctions and keep eBay alive a little longer.

I agree with the thought expressed here that an ebay seller can put any price tag he or she wants on an item. Nobody is being forced to buy it. I know what I am willing to pay for an item. If it is too high then I don't bid. If the seller sees no one biting then he will have to lower his price or accept the fact that he can't sell it. Intentionally misrepresenting an item is the real scam (as opposed to an honest mistake) and it is here that the handcuff community can be of service.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0285648300 is titled "19c. EX RARE ORIGINAL ANTIQUE BRASS HAND CUFF HANDCUFFS". The title and description are incorrect, of course, as this is a kit bag, or duffel bag, handle.

Is the seller trying to mislead or to cheat anyone, or does the seller just not know? I believe the latter. What do you think?

As a Handcuff collecting. community We all have and one time or another made bad investments ...BUT What this jerk is asking for a 'Common "cuff IS to Outrageius for words !!! Its people like this that I would love to 'Talk with' for 2 minutes ..JUST 2 !!!! THATS ALL .

I like to think that we all have a interest in restraint collecting for a reason, and Educating ourselfs and others on the building of a decient collection and spreading the word like wildfire when some scumbag like this is out there to RIP US OFF .

I have contacted ebay and explained the situation. personalli i don't consider this type of auction to be free traid -More like but simple greed/Theft.

The only cowards I see are the ones on ebay selling stuff at 1,000% mark up and charging sales tax to unsuspecting ebayers unaware of the scam.

The ones who condone such cowardly actions are just as ignorant and should be avoided as well.

You seem to be hounded by some on-line enemies. If we're judged by the quality of our enemies, and our enemies are low class, then what does that say about us?

I need to get some higher class enemies, myself.

As far as people charging outrageous prices for stuff, that doesn't bother me too much, as long as there is no misrepresentation. Market forces usually take care of them.

don't get me wrong , there is a big difference between a poster who may be a bit timid about having an identity and posts as anon . And the Coward anon who posts anon too take shots at regular posters and or troll posts knowing that nobody knows their identity .

Atlanta*Casting, let it go......I am pretty sure you are not going to be some how tricked into buying these cuffs so you might want to consider not letting this affect your blood pressure. I already made my feelings on this matter pretty clear; I do not know the seller and I do not want to know him either. I don't think it is right, but it is not hurting me or any of my handcuff business. How about the Houdini owned Tower Leg Irons, Houdini owned Judd Leg Irons, and Houdini owned Tower handcuffs that have been on eBay almost every week for the last couple of years for OUTRAGEOUS money??? (although, for the record, they have all been marked down over time.....the Tower leg irons in the wooden case were well over $10,000.00 at one time if memory serves)

Should we get upset by these too? No......live and let live and let them take care of the eBay fees that they have accumulated.

As to the issue of "tax" on eBay purchases, my Mom was just telling that eBay told her she MUST charge tax on items she is selling (because she will have to pay the tax out of her pocket otherwise) and also told her to add the shipping cost to the opening bid and offer free shipping (adding to the amount she is taxed on). She no longer sells on eBay because of this kind of BS. Now that we are looking at all these different facets, who is the real enemy here??? eBay charges HUGE seller's fees, they make you use Paypal (owned by eBay) and charge you money to use this service, they pull scams like the ones they pulled with my Mom, they let bad sellers continue their BS (basically, they let the crooks continue to sell), they stop honest auctions because of BS rules for example; No Rail Road locks no matter how long they have been out of service, no lock picking tools including a Reed Code book I was selling that had lock codes in it (the latest code was from a 1960's automobile!) according to eBay, this is a lock picking tool!!!! Also, the jaws from an old key machine and a tracer tip are also lock picking tools! What a joke!!! No, eBay is the REAL enemy here.

As for ebay , Yes ... I agree with you .

I ran into the RR lock issue with ebay years back . ( the rep I corresponded with told me that since they are not experts and cannot tell the difference between a RR lock or key that is out of service and a current one , they just end all auctions ... He He , ( unless you call the lock a Sargent and Greenleaf ENVIRONMENTAL lock and don't put it in the RR category ) then sell away ... I see these ( in service ) locks and keys come up on ebay alot .

I have done hundreds of transactions with many respectable collectors on this page. These sales techniques for selling asp and common available handcuffs are far from respectable. Condoning these actions is even worse.

you are just using the wrong tactics .

HC.org is like a collector club . I have belonged to several clubs , two for china ware and one for cast iron cookware . the scenario is always the same ... you will see the same type of people , just a different item too collect . You have those with knowledge and those who want everyone to think that they do . you have those with seemingly unlimited financial resources who can buy only the most rare and desirable items that you will never be able to aquire . You have those who want to be at every event to try and control the agenda etc . did I forget anyone ? and then there is the rest of us , who just want to be knowledgeable and keep up with the current events and goings on about handcuffs .

I had fun posting a few years ago as Uncle Stripe ...

I thought I was quite humorous and didn't care if anyone figured out it was me .

nothing wrong with the Fred Sanford persona as long as it's kept decent and not used to attack anybody .
